Blue Leaf: On Chesil Beach

in Features

Poetry Tuesday has generally been a colossal failure. Yep. Colossal. Failure. Poetry is dead. And so is Poetry Tuesday. (With a special thanks to unfinished person at Just A (Reading) Fool for being the only contributor. Ever.) (Also, I reserve the right to occasionally resurrect Poetry Tuesday, should the mood strike.)

So, I’m not one to dwell on the failures. (Even though I really love the button I created.) :( Anywho. Not dwelling. Moving on. Moving on to a feature I’m rather excited about. Blue Leafs. (I can see the shiny new button now. Yep. There it is, on the side of this post.)

Here’s the concept: Blue Leafs are one-page notes on a book. Bibliographic info. Main characters. Setting. Point of view. Brief plot summary. Author info. Websites. A few thought questions. The end. (As in, the end of that sentence. No spoilers in Blue Leafs.)

The first official Blue Leaf is for On Chesil Beach, by Ian McEwan. The plan is to create one of these a week. Each weekend to be more exact. We’ll see how it goes.

Upload Blue Leaf: On Chesil Beach here.

(All Blue Leafs available for download are listed on the Blue Leafs page.)

Since this is a new process, let me know how you feel. Too much? Not enough? Just right? (Also, how do you feel about parentheticals?)

I’m really sorry that Poetry Tuesday didn’t work out, but at least for me, it re-sparked my interest and love of poetry, which has been lying dormant for years. Thank you for that. Truly.

As for your new adventure, I’m new to this blogging “thang” (sometimes I go “street” on people, sorry, I’m like that), but I like what I see and I’ll be posting a special post about your new endeavor today. I’ll even use the button on my sidebar, if you like, and provide a link here, if you like. Just let me know (and just so you know, I liked your button for Poetry Tuesday; maybe you should just start a business for buttons? :)

(And oh, I love parenthetical remarks…as you can tell.)

Thoroughly enjoyed On Chesil Beach, which I finished all in one sitting when I visited my family in Hong Kong. The multiple layers of feelings and emotions, along with what’s in between the lines, make the novel is page-turner.
