[...] Looking for Alaska, by John Green Green deals with teens in a realistic and important way. The characters are well-developed, and their actions and decisions come across as genuine. Definitely flawed, the characters are still very human and forgiveable. The sprinkling of famous last words and religious philosophy enhance the plot with precise dosages, rather than distract. (tags: blog-reviews john-green looking-for-alaska) [...]

Jena - I didn't notice the timeline lapses. I'll have to watch for that next time I read it.

Blake - This book is definitely YA at its best. I've found, though, with the Printz winners and finalists that it is older YA. I'd say 15 and up.

Natasha - I'll be looking for your review.

Nymeth - I enjoyed your review. I don't often relate to teenage characters, but these I could.

Lali - I'm glad it helped with your homework. :)

Lisa - I didn't even know Paper Towns was coming out! I'll have to read it. I also plan on reading An Abundance of Katherines.

I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I agree, the characters were so human and so fully believable. And I also agree with you that Miles found his answer within himself. I like what you said about the "Great Perhaps" being a journey and not a destination.

Sounds like a good book. Although you recommend this to teens and adults alike, would you classify it as YA fiction?

I read this one last October. I was pretty impressed, as I recall. Except that I couldn't get the timeline to match up in the end. Did you notice that?
