MEME
1. Are you more likely to see a movie if it’s based on a book?
2. Do you prefer to read the book first or see the movie first?
3. List one movie that was better than the book it’s based on, and one book that is better than the movie.
4. In your opinion, what film is the most accurate representation of the book?
MY ANSWERS
1. I am probably more likely to see a movie if it’s based on a book I’ve read. This is largely because of the answer to the next question.
2. I prefer to read the book first, even though that may ruin the movie for me. Still, a movie may inspire me to read the book.
3. I think most books are better than their film adaptations, but one that definitely comes to mind is 84, Charing Cross Road. The movie was so boring! As for a movie that was better than the book, I’d have to say Jurassic Park.
4. I thought Breakfast at Tiffany’s was an excellent adaptation of the book. (I saw the movie first, though, then read the book.) Also, I have to include here the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice as one of the most faithful film adaptations I’ve seen.
Thanks for participating in the Lit Flicks Challenge. Good night and good luck!

Atonement is my favorite move adaptation of a book. But my current list might top it.
Anne of Green Gables is my favorite movie adaptation of a book.
Help! Your blog ate my comment! I am pretty sure I left one earlier, but where has it gone? Anyway, I love the idea of Lit Flick! Is it annual? I don’t have time to squeeze in another project right now, but I could plan for next year!
Blake – I’m looking forward to reading Atonement for this challenge.
Alyce – I love both the movie and the book! Anne of Green Gables is very comforting to read and watch.
Melissa – You commented on another post about the Lit Flicks Challenge. (There’s been quite a few lately.) :) Anyway, my plan is to make this an annual challenge, so plan for next year! Thanks for your interest.
1. Are you more likely to see a movie if it’s based on a book?
Not really, but I am more likely to read a book once I’ve enjoyed the movie… and vice versa. It just depends on what happens to catch my attention first.
2. Do you prefer to read the book first or see the movie first?
See above, it depends. When I can I do prefer to read first, but sometimes I find watching the movie, especially if it’s a more difficult book to read, helps me understand the book better. A good example – Shakespeare. :)
3. List one movie that was better than the book it’s based on, and one book that is better than the movie.
Hmm… This is tough… The movie “Laura” (Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney) was much better than the book. And as for books… “The Woman In White” was definitely better than the movie I saw.
4. In your opinion, what film is the most accurate representation of the book?
Hmm… Another toughy, probably Wives and Daughters (1999) or Pride and Prejudice (1995) both were very well adapted, some variations from the books, but very minor if any.
