in Memes & Miscellany

This week’s meme:

1. Do you get to read as much as you WANT to read? (I’m guessing #1 is an easy question for everyone?)
2. If you had (magically) more time to read–what would you read? Something educational? Classic? Comfort Reading? Escapism? Magazines?

Um . . . no. I don’t get to read as much as I want. I would like to spend eight to ten hours a day reading – for fun. Unfortunately and fortunately, life intervenes. I would guess I currently average about one to two hours a day of reading for fun. I read a lot for my job, but that’s a lot of legal briefs and cases and whatnot.

If I had more time to read I would read more of what I usually read. Literary fiction, YA, classics, comfort reading. If I had unlimited time, I would probably add in more nonfiction.

What about you? Would your reading preferences change if you had unlimited time?

Briefs and cases are no fun to read. I’d read the same stuff I read bow.

Legal briefs and cases could be rough…how to say nothing in 500 words type of reading!

I usually read two hours over breakfast every morning, taking my time and sitting at the sunniest spot at my neighborhood coffee shop. (It’s San Francisco…everyone has their coffee at the cafes). Then I’ll slip in some reading time when no students come for office hour. I’ll read a bit more at home in the evening since I don’t watch much TV.

There’s a big difference in reading for your job or for school and reading for pleasure.

what would I read? Well, WHATEVER I WANTED! Oh man, that would be just plain swell!

There’s just never enough time!

Mine would change. I’d read more classics.

I’d still read the same books but just TONS more than I do now.

You didn’t mention that you’d read more James Joyce. Which still leaves me confused as to your purchase yesterday. Lemon breath stench. The old hag kicked dog. Sun’s bellybutton hair.

Now, you’ll be able to read even more because you won “Independence Day” from me. E-mail your address to me, ‘kay?

If I could read whenever I wanted, I don’t think I would stop! I would most likely read mysteries as those are my favorites, but I might read others as well.
