Here is an abstract of my literary doings in January.
Books Read
The Memorist, by M.J. Rose – 1/18/2009

Book by Book, by Michael Dirda – 1/25/2009

January Total = 2
Year-to-Date Total = 2
Sad, sad reading month. I was buying a house and packing and moving. Hopefully, now that we’re in the house and mostly unpacked, February will be oh so much better. Still, I read about 400 pages of Master and about 400 pages of The Executioner’s Song. I should finish both books this month. Book by Book was definitely the winner this month.
Book Club
Master, by Toni Sorenson – Meeting: January 22, 2009
We had a delightful January meeting. The author of Master, Toni Sorenson, attended our meeting and shared her insights on the creation of this book. My review of Master will post in the next couple of days.
Our selection for February is Enna Burning, by Shannon Hale.

Hey, me too! I just bought a house. My February will be a sad sad reading month!
Remember, if you read a Really Old Classics selection and review it by the end of February, you are entered to win a book of your choice. Details here.
Don’t tell me you’ll be getting Shannon Hale to come to your book club in February! :)
Good luck with all those challenges.
Glad to hear you got that move mostly over with.
Happy to hear you are settling in your new house and Enna Burning is one of my favorites.
I’ve got Book by Book after I read your thoughtful review but have to put it off till next month. I’m reading African American literature this month. Good luck on the challenges, wow! :)
By the way, thanks for To Catch the Lightning.
Hey, I read two books too for January: A Year of Living Biblically and a memoir by Richard Selzer. So don’t feel too bad. Of course, I’m no longer called Just A (Reading) Fool so I don’t have to live up to the expectations. ;) Lit Flicks Challenge: I’m still in. I need to update where I am with that also, but I believe I’m done or over on that, since so many books have been made into movies anyway.
