in Memes & Miscellany

I haven’t participated in BTT since December, but this week’s meme caught my eye:

Do you read any author’s blogs? If so, are you looking for information on their next project? On the author personally? Something else?

I do read author blogs!  Here are the one’s I subscribe to (in alphabetical order):

  • Laurie Halse Anderson – I’m a new subscriber to this one and haven’t really fallen in love. This is more a photo journal of book events. There aren’t a lot of personal insights or info about the writing process thus far.
  • Libba Bray – Libby is funny, though she can go on sometimes.
  • Meg Waite Clayton – I actually just subscribed to this one today, after reading Trish’s BTT post.
  • The Debutante Ball – This actually a grog (a group blog) about five soon-to-be-published authors. The debs handoff their grogging batons each year to new authors.
  • Neil Gaiman – Okay, probably the most-read author’s blog, ever. It’s awesome though.
  • Shannon Hale – I love Shannon Hale, and I love her blog. She writes about publishing and about her writing process, and she also has cool interviews with other writer pals of hers.
  • Joshilyn Jackson – I don’t always read Joshilyn’s blogs because they only partially appear in my Google Reader, and I’m too lazy to click through half the time. However, she’s hilarious.
  • J. Scott Savage – You all probably recognize this name from his blog tour this year.  He blogs about writing and publishing and some personal things.

My favorite author-blogs are Shannon Hale’s and Neil Gaiman’s, hands down.

As for what I look for in a writer’s blog, I’m kind of open.  I like reading about writing; I like reading about books that are forthcoming; I like reading about the personal lives of the authors; I like reading about their publishing experiences or their book tours.  I just like to follow along with some of these people who are living their writing dreams.

Gaiman’s blog rocks — simply and truly.

I stopped reading Joshilyn Jackson’s blog because of the partial-feed thing, but I did enjoy it when I was reading it. Perhaps I should reconsider and add her back to Google Reader.

I’ll take your word and try Gaiman. :)

I’ll have to check out some of these authors… I like them… I just haven’t tried their blogs. But so little time….

I love Joshilyn Jackson’s blog, and hate the partial feed. What I do is just leave them for a while and then read 4 or 5 at once. I also have Gaiman and uh.. a vampire author whose name escapes me on mine.

Thanks for Libba’s link. I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
