The 2009 Pultizer Prizes were just barely announced. And the winner for fiction is . . .

Olive Kitteridge, by Elizabeth Strout
Ironically, I have this book on my nightstand right now and kind of lost interest after the first fifty pages. I guess I’ll definitely be finishing it now.
I’ve never heard of either of the finalists:
The Plague of Doves, by Louise Erdrich and All Souls, by Christine Schutt

I haven’t heard of either of the finalists either.
I’m sure I’ve heard a few people mention Olive Ketteridge, but I can’t remember if they thought it was good or not – I’m guessing average since I don’t know!
I’ve just ordered a second-hand copy before everyone else realises it has won and the price shoots up!
I actually haven’t heard of the winner either! I shall investigate now, though.
I’ll update my Pulitzer list!
I have Louise Erdrich’s The Master Butcher’s Singing Club on my TBR shelf, but have never read any of her work yet. Her book, Love Medicine, won the National Book Critics’ Circle Award in 1984.
I like the All Souls cover…
I had the same experience with Olive Kitteridge and feel satisfied somehow that you did the same. It must be the ol’ am-I-the-only-one- who just can’t get involved with this story!
Thanks for the post! I missed this in the news…oops. :-)
so? did you ever finish Olive Kitteridge? I loved it!
