Library Loot: April 1-7, 2009

in Memes & Miscellany

I’m doing better. Of my last batch of library books, I read two of the three I checked out! (I read the relatively short ones: Fantastic Mr. Fox and American Born Chinese).  On this trip, I knew I might not have time to get to all of my selections because of my book club and review copy commitments in April.  Still, there were several books I just couldn’t leave on the shelves. Here they are:

  • Mudbound, by Hillary Jordan
  • The Tale of Edgar Sawtelle, by David Wroblewski
  • Olive Kitteridge, by Elizabeth Strout

Also, I’m in second position to get The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins!!

What did you get from the library this week?

Mudbound and Olive Kitteridge are both on my wish list!

I’m curious to hear what you think of Edgar Sawtelle. I’ve been done with it for over a week now, and I still can’t decide if I loved it or I hated it.

I really enjoyed Mudbound last year and I have Olive Kitteridge on my iPod, but haven’t gotten to it yet. I loved The Hunger Games – ENJOY!

I’m so glad to know I am not the only one who checks out books and doesn’t read them all :) it is cheaper than buying them tho! I can’t wait to hear your opinion on these too. I still have [overdue!] The Age of Orphans and am now on the 3rd “Ink” book- Inkdeath.
btw: That review of Inkspell from the Book Carnival is about to take over for my top post, beating out the long-standing top one about “Tales of Beedle the Bard”- thanks for that again!

I can’t wait to hear what you think about The Hunger Games. It recently became one of my favorites!

Enjoy your books!

The Tale of Edgar Sawtelle is on my desk. I need some push to pick it up after reading all these giant tomes!

Loren – Both of your library books look intriguing.

Kathy – They’ve been on my TBR list for sometime. I hope to get to them before I have to take them back!

Meryl – I’ve heard mixed reviews on this one. Sometimes, though, it’s those books that I’m not sure if I loved or hated that make the biggest impression on me. I’m still going back and forth on Gone with the Wind.

Joy – I can’t WAIT to read The Hunger Games.

janflora – I have an inability to curb my reading hunger when I’m at the library!

JessicaLeigh – I really really can’t wait to read it. I’ve heard such good things from everyone.

Matthew – I feel the same way. I read Gone with the Wind about the same time you did, and now I feel like I need to read a bunch of shorter books before taking on another chunkster.
