Congratulations on making it to hour 18 of the read-a-thon! Here’s a mini-challenge to give your mind a little break.
“Once we know the plot and its surprises, we can appreciate a book’s artistry without the usual confusion and sap flow of emotion, content to follow the action with tenderness and interest, all passion spent. Rather than surrender to the story or the characters – as a good first reader ought – we can now look at how the book works, and instead of swooning over it like a besotted lover begin to appreciate its intricacy and craftmanship. Surprisingly, such dissection doesn’t murder the experience. Just the opposite: Only then does a work of art fully live.” – Michael Dirda in Book by Book
Here’s the challenge:
1. Go back to your blog, and tell us about the books you’re rereading during the mini-challenge. Maybe post a picture of each book and describe why you love it enough to reread it.
OR
2. Go back to your blog, and give us a list of your top favorite rereads of all time. You know, those books that you can go to time and time again for comfort and escape. Again, pictures are good. :)
Once you’ve posted, come back here and put the link to your post in the Mister Linky. At the end of hour 20, I’ll randomly choose someone to receive a copy of Book by Book, by Michael Dirda and Books, by Larry McMurtry.
Thanks for playing!

Thank you, Jessica! Love your idea.
How lovely for you to host a challenge! are you awake now? duh. am I awake? sigh. I’ve had too much coffee to try and take a nap but I think I’m moving into deliriousness.
I like this challenge because I think many of us do re-read beloved books – mine are listed on the blog
Wonderful challenge! Just wish I’d had a better answer.
Thank you jessica…. it was a nice challenge after all.. :)
:( My camera died, so no pictures. But I made a list!
Drat. This is a good topic. I just never re-read anything. My goal is to read through as much as possible once, so that when I retire I’ll know what it’s worth spending my time to re-read. :-)
Great challenge and my first one…
