Connecting via Social Media

Do you LibraryThing? Are you on Goodreads? And I KNOW you Twitter, right?

I use all three applications and would really like to make sure that I’m connecting with you there. So, please leave your social media contact information in the comments. You know, so we can be friends. Because being friends on LibraryThing/Goodreads/Twitter is the online equivalent of exchanging friendship bracelets.

Goodreads
Goodreads is my favorite book-related application, and I use it to track what I read. My book club also uses the group forum section extensively. My goodreads name is thebluestockings. Check out my profile. AND, most importantly, please leave your Goodreads name in the comments.

LibraryThing

LibraryThing is my favourite. I used to really like goodreads, but I don’t find I use it as much now.

I’ve had a goodreads account for 2 years, but it sat dormant for a long time. I’m trying to keep it current this year. I gave up on Library Thing (goodreads won over Library Thing because I happen to like their newsletter).

I’m a sporadic twitterer.

15 Momof5boys May 9, 2009 at 11:28 am: I don’t Twitter and I don’t use goodreads or LT. I found Shelfari first, and I can’t imagine switching, because I have several thousand books listed there! Can anyone tell me why I would want to? I’ll consider it if someone has a really great reason! LOL!
16 M May 9, 2009 at 7:19 pm: I use Goodreads but only to stay in bookish contact with real-life (as opposed to online) friends. They are Twitter-averse and most don’t have blogs, but they are all somewhat addicted to Goodreads. So I compromised and have an account on there.

I don’t use LT, just because I know once I get sucked in, I won’t be able to let go. For now, Goodreads + blogs are enough for me.

I signed up for Twitter a couple weeks ago and am now addicted. My name on there is @seldomyes. I hope to use it more often to talk about books I’m reading once I finish up with exams – next week!

18 Nymeth May 10, 2009 at 3:21 am: I use all 3 of them (and I’m highly original too: I’m Nymeth everywhere :P), but Goodreads is the one I do the least with. This because I once tried to transfer my catalogue from librarything, failed, and never tried again. I’ll have to learn to use the site properly sometime.
