Cannery Row, huh? Can I just watch the movie? (assuming they DID a movie…)
That’s such a cool meme…if I had my brain back, I would jump in! LOL!
Coolness. I’m not going to steal it because this whole week was chaos and I’ve fallen behind on blog reviews, but it was fun reading! Also, I dropped by to let you know that the book of short stories I won has already arrived and it’s beautiful. Thanks so much!!
I’m curious to know how Cannery Row changed your life, if you’d like to share! :)
I loved your list! You have great choices. I’m also going to steal this one. Thanks for offering to let us steal! :)
Have you read The Westing Game before? It’s one of my childhood favorites… how are you liking it?
I love this! I stole it for my own blog today.
Care – I believe there is a movie version of Cannery Row, but I haven’t seen it. So, I can’t vouch for it’s ability to convey the life-changing aspects of the book. :)
Muthering Heights – I’m so sorry your brain is gone. Feel free to steal this when you get it back.
Bookfool, aka Nancy – I’m so glad you got the book. I hope you enjoy it.
Suey – It’s a little complicated to explain, but I’ll give it a go. My mom has always been a huge Steinbeck fan, but I was resistant. I finally started with Tortilla Flat and made my way through Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath, and East of Eden. But I didn’t read Cannery Row until last year. And it took me on an adventure rich with characters – some badish, some goodish – and it made me realize that I don’t know everyone’s story, everyone’s background. So, I guess it was life-changing in the way I perceive people, and my appreciation of one of my mom’s favorite books.
Fyrefly – I just read The Westing Game for the first time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s exactly the kind of book I would have adored as a child. I’m a little disappointed I didn’t discover it back then, but I’m glad I read it now.
Dr. Blondie – I’ll come over and see your answers!
This is fun. I may need to “borrow” this my way ;)
