Bookfool, aka Nancy - I'm so glad you got the book. I hope you enjoy it. Suey - It's a little complicated to explain, but I'll give it a go. My mom has always been a huge Steinbeck fan, but I was resistant. I finally started with Tortilla Flat and made my way through Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath, and East of Eden. But I didn't read Cannery Row until last year. And it took me on an adventure rich with characters - some badish, some goodish - and it made me realize that I don't know everyone's story, everyone's background. So, I guess it was life-changing in the way I perceive people, and my appreciation of one of my mom's favorite books. Fyrefly - I just read The Westing Game for the first time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's exactly the kind of book I would have adored as a child. I'm a little disappointed I didn't discover it back then, but I'm glad I read it now. Dr. Blondie - I'll come over and see your answers!
