Here is an abstract of my literary doings in August.
Books Read
Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury – 8/1/2009
Letter from New York, by Helene Hanff – 8/8/2009
Q’s Legacy, by Helene Hanff – 8/12/2009
Apple of My Eye, by Helene Hanff – 8/13/2009
The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street, by Helene Hanff – 8/17/2009
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, by David Wroblewski – 8/28/2009
August Total = 6
Year-to-Date Total = 41
Also you can see, I went on a bit of a Helene Hanff binge. The pick of the month, though, has to be The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.

Monthly Highlights
- Again, it’s been a slow month here at The Bluestocking Society. I’ve had many personal things going on that took me away from blogging. I’ll share one of those things in the coming weeks.
- Gear up for the second edition of the Lit Flicks Challenge which starts soon!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by my blog this month!

Sorry to hear that your face-to-face bookclub didn’t work out. I understand about the Helene Hanff binge. Her books are fun to read, and I did something similar earlier this year.
We’re sorry you felt that it just didn’t work out for you in Epiphany. We all wish you luck in finding a better fit and with your personal challenges at this time.
You are so good with your xhallenges, you’re actually tracking them. I have Fahrenheit 451 in my soon to be read TBR pile. I hope I like it :)
None of the links are working….I’m looking forward to hearing how you like Hanff’s other books! I just read 84 Charing Cross and Duchess of Bloomsbury this month as well.
Hey, you can come to my face to face book club! You totally still live close enough! Seriously. Come.
Alyce – I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on Helene Hanff’s books. I’ll poke around your blog.
Christie – Thanks for the well wishes. I’m sad to leave.
Violet – Tracking the challenges is the only way I can make sure I’m doing them! Fahrenheit 451 is great. I look forward to your thoughts.
Rebecca – I’m terribly behind on reviews, which is why none of the links are working. I’ll get the Helene Hanff reviews up soon.
Suey – I’d love to hear more about your book club! I’ll email you.
Speaking of book clubs, have you tried the Goodreads group feature for organizing a face-to-face book club? We just started using it for my political book club, and it’s working great!
