I’ve felt a little removed from the book blog world for the last little while. You’ve probably noticed; my posting has been sparse. Don’t worry. It’s not you; it’s me.
I had a baby in February. Her name is Daphne, and she is the best distraction ever. I’ve been hesitant to really talk about her on here because, for one, this is a blog about books, and two, there are all these horror stories about people who steal kids off of the internet. But, I’ve come to realize that this is also a blog about me and that the horror stories are far fetched. Right? (I still can’t bring myself to post a picture though. Still scared.) Anyhow. That’s why I’ve been distracted.
But I’m recommitting to this lovely blogging thing. I’ve missed it, and I’ve missed you.

It’s understandable that you have been distracted.
Ps kids who get stolen usually have had their parents post a lot more than the occasion photo. Not that I’m insisting you post photos.

What wonderful news! No wonder you’ve been distracted. I’d love to see photos, but if you’re not comfortable posting any, I say don’t do it.
Congrats on your daughter! :) I don’t put pictures of my niece on my blog out of the same fear (that, and I have this horrible idea of a creepy pedophile feeling aroused by her pictures…told you it was horrible), so I understand that.
And welcome back: I love how easy it is to get back into book blogging even if you’ve been away for awhile! :D

How lovely. I’m glad you’re back, but I’m glad you’ve taken time to enjoy Daphne as well. And I agree–what a great name!

I’m so happy for you! My two kidlets are the best thing that ever happened to me. I still don’t post their names on my blog, but instead refer to them as Big Kid and Little Kid, so I know what you mean about the paranoia. I think you’re doing a good thing!
ps….what’s the first book you bought for Daphne??

Bluestocking – I know it’s a pretty irrational fear, but I can’t help it. Yet. :)
Trisha – Thanks! We actually got the name from a copy of REBECCA that was on our bookshelves in the living room when we were brainstorming names.
Kathy – I’m not comfortable with the photos, yet, but I might cave eventually. She’s so cute.
Eva – I actually have a similar awful fear. Perish the thought. And I agree; book blog land is such a happy place to come back to.
Angie – It’s good to be back, and I’m glad you like the name. I have a very generic last name, so I wanted something a little unique.
Amber – I know! I can’t believe she’s almost six months old already. I’m pretty sure I’ll turn around, and she’ll be off to college.
Michelle – I love the pseudonyms for your kids! And, I believe that the first book I bought her (there are so many) was THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT. It was one of my favorites as a kid.
Jenny – Thanks a million! She’s pretty fun.
Softdrink – Thank you! It’s quite the adventure.
Congratulations!
