Fourth Quarter Total = 12
Year-to-Date Total = 55
I finally finally finally finished The Goldfinch. Hip hip hooray!
While the total books read this year is under my Goodreads goal of 75 for the year, I am happy with the number.
My neighborhood book club read The Graveyard Book and The Jungle Book in October and then read Longing for Home for our holiday read. I had read The Graveyard Book before and didn’t reread it, but I tackled The Jungle Book for the first time.
I read all three of this quarter’s Third Thursday Book Club selections: Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand; The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger; and Pope Joan, by Donna Woolfolk Cross. All three were solid reads that led to solid discussions.
Check out my 2014 book club report for more details about this year in book club.
I actually have challenge progress to report this quarter, since I finally finished The Goldfinch! That’s it, though.
- In Christmas news, I posted about the new line of Penguin Christmas Classics and about my bookish secret Santa.
- In review news, I managed to post a few: By the Book, Unbroken, and The Catcher in the Rye.
- In literary awards news, I posted about the 2014 Booker winner, the National Book Award finalists, and the National Book Award winners.
- In end-of-the-year news, this is the first of at least three yearly recap posts, which will include the year in numbers and my favorite books of the year.
That’s it. That’s what happened in the fourth quarter of 2014. Thanks to everyone who stopped by my blog!
