I reread Charlotte’s Web this year, I think for the first time as an adult. This was one of my favorite books as a child, and I read it probably dozens of times. The basic story of girl saves runty pig from death, and kindly spider then saves grown pig from death is still here. But what I noticed this time was a lot of subtext about writing and how writers are under-appreciated. I also caught a lot more of the humor.
